Are you full of gratitude these days?

If yes, yay YOU!

There’s NO question that gratitude helps us stay positive and optimistic, and props us up during difficult times.

But what if gratitude is NOT on your radar at all?

What if you just want 2020 to be OVER and you’re struggling to find ANYTHING to be grateful for?

I’m seeing both perspectives these days….

Between what clients share, what I’m hearing from family and friends, and what I’m experiencing myself, it’s clear that gratitude is NOT one-size fits all.

And guess what?

Either way, BOTH make COMPLETE sense given the increasing uncertainty we’re all experiencing on a daily basis during a pandemic that is getting worse, instead of better.

The energy it takes to stay resilient by finding gratitude – and remaining positive and optimistic – isn’t always easy.

THAT became obvious just recently with the announcement of potential Covid-19 vaccines. The collective EXHALE was palpable globally…

But the relief? Well, that was short-lived.

Feeling gratitude 24/7 seems to have lost it’s former lustre….

Instead, too many of us are increasingly distracted by feelings of uncertainty, fatigue, and restlessness.

So whether you’re a natural optimist, full of gratitude – or struggling – I wanted to share something inspirational….

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing:  the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way”

― Viktor Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning

“And one has to understand that braveness is not the absence of fear but rather the strength to keep on going forward despite the fear.”

― Paulo Coelho

“Hello, sun in my face. Hello you who made the morning and spread it over the fields… Watch, now, how I start the day in happiness, in kindness.”

― Mary Oliver

“You may not always have a comfortable life. And you will not always be able to solve all the world’s problems all at once. But don’t ever underestimate the impact you can have, because history has shown us that courage can be contagious, and hope can take on a life of its own.”

— Michelle Obama

“The very least you can do in your life is figure out what you hope for. And the most you can do is live inside that hope. Not admire it from a distance but live right in it, under its roof.”

― Barbara Kingsolver, Animal Dreams

With this little poem as a bonus reminder of gentle renewal, here’s to making the best of a challenging 2020, bella!

“This is the time to be slow,

Lie low to the wall

Until the bitter weather passes.

Try, as best you can, not to let

The wire brush of doubt

Scrape from your heart

All sense of yourself

And your hesitant light.

If you remain generous,

Time will come good;

And you will find your feet

Again on fresh pastures of promise,

Where the air will be kind

And blushed with beginning.”

― John O’Donohue, To Bless the Space Between Us:  A Book of Blessings
